Sheffield apartment scheme to go ahead

Planning permission for the expansion of a residential property
scheme in Sheffield has been granted, which will involve the
construction of 80 new apartments.
The development will affect the Velocity Tower, to which Velocity
estates will add nine new storeys to take it up to 31 in all, the
Business Desk reports.
In addition to this, there will be a second tower added of 18
storeys, which will also include an aparthotel.
Daniel Biggins, the residential lettings manager at Velocity
Estates, said the plan had always been to "make an impressive mark
on the city's Ecclesall Road".
The new phase "takes this aspiration to another level", he
added.
Such a development indicates that some are still confident in the
potential of this kind of property, despite the mothballing of some
other city living apartment schemes such as the Lumiere Tower in
Leeds.
However, the Lumiere project may be back up and running again next
year, Crains Manchester Business reported last month.
